Description
Ultrabond 14B – Two‑Component Polyurethane Duct Sealant for Telecoms
Ultrabond 14B is a two‑component polyurethane compound developed to seal telecommunications cable ducting against the ingress of moisture and gas. It is designed to create a durable, airtight and water‑resistant barrier within duct systems, helping to protect cabling infrastructure from damp, condensation, and gas migration that can lead to service faults and premature degradation.
The sealant bonds well to polyethylene, polycarbonate, and PVCu, making it suitable for use with common duct materials and components found in telecoms networks. Its rapid curing profile allows joints and seals to develop strength quickly, minimising downtime during installation and maintenance works.
14B is supplied in specially designed packaging that allows for easy mixing and application, streamlining the sealing process for contractors working in ducts, chambers, and access points. As part of the Ultrabond range from MW Polymers Products Ltd, 14B is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of telecommunications infrastructure, offering consistent performance in both new builds and remedial sealing applications.
Key Benefits
-
Purpose‑designed for telecoms duct sealing – Developed to seal telecommunications cable ducting against moisture and gas ingress.
-
Strong adhesion to common duct materials – Bonds well to polyethylene, polycarbonate, and PVCu.
-
Rapid curing – Fast development of strength helps reduce downtime during installation and maintenance.
-
Easy to use – Specially designed packaging enables straightforward mixing and application on site.
-
Durable, weather‑resistant seal – Forms a tough, long‑lasting barrier in demanding underground and external environments.
Typical Applications
Ultrabond 14B is used by telecoms contractors and network operators for:
-
Sealing telecommunications cable ducts against moisture and gas ingress
-
Creating airtight and water‑resistant barriers in duct runs, chambers, and access points
-
Protecting underground and external duct infrastructure from damp, condensation, and gas migration
-
Remedial sealing works where existing duct seals have degraded or failed
How It Works
Ultrabond 14B is supplied as a two‑component polyurethane system. The two parts are mixed immediately before use to initiate the curing reaction. The mixed sealant is then applied to the prepared duct surface or joint, where it cures rapidly to form a solid, adherent, moisture‑ and gas‑resistant barrier.
Once cured, the 14B sealant helps prevent the longitudinal movement of water, water vapour, and gas along the duct system. This protects the installed cabling, reduces the risk of moisture‑related faults, and supports the long‑term reliability of the telecoms network.
