Description
10B Closure Sealant – Two‑Component Polyurea System for Telecoms Closures
10B Closure Sealant is a two‑component polyurea compound specifically formulated for use as a self‑curing closure sealant system for sealing polyethylene‑sheathed telecommunications cables. It is designed to create a durable, moisture‑resistant barrier within cable closures and joints, helping to protect against water ingress, condensation, and environmental contaminants that can lead to service faults and premature cable degradation.
The system is intended for use by telecoms contractors and jointers working on both new construction and maintenance projects across underground and aerial cable networks. When mixed and applied correctly, 10B cures to form a tough, flexible seal that adheres well to polyethylene sheathing and remains stable within the closure environment over time.
As part of the Ultrabond range from MW Polymers Products Ltd, 10B Closure Sealant is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of modern telecommunications infrastructure, offering consistent performance in a wide range of closure and jointing applications.
Key Benefits
-
Purpose‑designed for telecoms closures – Specifically formulated for sealing polyethylene‑sheathed telecommunications cables in closures and joints.
-
Self‑curing polyurea system – Two‑component formulation that cures reliably to form a durable, long‑lasting seal.
-
Suitable for construction and maintenance – Ideal for both new installations and remedial works on existing cable networks.
-
Strong adhesion to PE sheathing – Designed to bond effectively to polyethylene‑sheathed cables commonly used in telecoms infrastructure.
-
Consistent performance – Engineered for use in demanding underground and aerial environments where reliability is critical.
Typical Applications
10B Closure Sealant is used by telecoms contractors and network operators for:
-
Sealing polyethylene‑sheathed telecommunications cables within closures and joint housings
-
Creating moisture‑resistant barriers in cable joints and closure assemblies
-
New construction of telecoms cable joints and closures in underground and aerial networks
-
Maintenance and remedial works where existing closure seals have degraded or failed
How It Works
10B Closure Sealant is supplied as a two‑component polyurea system. The two parts are mixed immediately before use to initiate the curing reaction. The mixed sealant is then applied to the prepared cable and closure surfaces, where it cures to form a solid, adherent, moisture‑resistant barrier.
Once cured, the 10B sealant helps prevent the ingress of water, water vapour, and contaminants into the closure, protecting the internal splices and connections. This reduces the risk of moisture‑related faults, supports long‑term cable performance, and extends the service life of the joint or closure.
