Description
Permabond MS359 Grey – Single‑Part Moisture‑Curing MS Polymer Adhesive (290ml)
Permabond MS359 is a high‑performance, single‑part MS polymer adhesive that cures at room temperature in the presence of moisture. It is designed for bonding and sealing a wide variety of substrate materials, including metals, glass, composites, plastics, concrete, brick, and wood, making it a versatile solution for construction, industrial, and automotive applications.
The adhesive is grey in colour and cures to a grey finish, providing a strong, flexible bond with excellent resistance to weathering and UV exposure. This makes MS359 particularly suitable for exterior construction and industrial applications such as bonding panels, frames, flashings, and structural assemblies where performance and durability are more critical than optical clarity. Once cured, the bond line can be painted to match surrounding surfaces if required.
MS359 is free from solvents, isocyanates, silicones, and PVC compounds, and is non‑corrosive to sensitive substrates. It requires no mixing and no primer, and can be applied directly from a standard 290ml cartridge using a conventional caulking gun. The thixotropic, non‑sag paste is easy to apply on vertical and overhead surfaces without slumping.
Key Benefits
-
Grey resin, cures grey – Consistent grey colour before and after curing for industrial and construction applications.
-
Wide substrate compatibility – Bonds effectively to metals, glass, composites, plastics, concrete, brick, wood, and dissimilar materials.
-
Solvent‑, isocyanate‑, silicone‑ and PVC‑free – Safe, low‑odour formulation that is non‑corrosive and suitable for sensitive substrates.
-
No mixing, no primer – Single‑part, moisture‑curing system that simplifies application and reduces preparation time.
-
Weather‑resistant and flexible – Low‑modulus, flexible cure accommodates thermal movement and vibration without cracking.
-
Paintable after curing – Cured adhesive can be overcoated to match surrounding surfaces where required.
-
Easy to apply – Thixotropic, non‑sag paste dispenses smoothly from a standard 290ml caulking cartridge.
Typical Applications
Permabond MS359 is used across construction, industrial manufacturing, and automotive sectors for:
-
Bonding and sealing of metal panels, frames, and structural assemblies in transport, cladding, and industrial equipment
-
Exterior construction – bonding and sealing of flashings, canopies, roofing details, and building components
-
Metal and composite assemblies – bonding of trim, stiffeners, and structural components in transport and industrial applications
-
General construction and repair – bonding of concrete, brick, wood, and plastics where a strong, flexible, weather‑resistant adhesive is needed
-
Automotive and transport – applications where silicones are restricted due to paint adhesion issues (e.g. bodywork, trim, and glazing)
How It Works
Permabond MS359 is a moisture‑curing MS polymer. When applied, ambient humidity initiates a curing reaction that forms a skin within approximately 10–20 minutes, with a typical cure rate of around 4 mm per 24 hours (depending on temperature and humidity). Full strength develops over several days as the adhesive cures through the joint.
The cured adhesive forms a tough yet flexible grey bond with good elongation (80–100%) and moderate shear strength (2–3 MPa on metals and many plastics). Its low‑modulus characteristics allow it to absorb movement and vibration, reducing stress on the bond line and helping to maintain long‑term performance in dynamic environments.
